My Origins

Passions & Interests

Beyond my professional pursuits, I’ve always been captivated by science, fabric arts, dance, literature, gardening, and spirituality. Nature has been my sanctuary, offering both solace and inspiration.

Professional Evolution

After graduating from the University of Victoria in the Faculty of Human and Social Development, I embarked on a career counseling children and families. This journey took me from Winnipeg to Johannesburg, where I taught learning-disabled children. However, upon returning to Vancouver, I felt a growing urge to delve deeper into holistic healing. This quest led me to discover shiatsu and reiki, both of which provided me with therapeutic insights that conventional medicine couldn’t. My passion for these disciplines culminated in the co-founding of Sourcepoint Center in 1987—the first licensed shiatsu clinic in Vancouver.

The Reiki Chapter

In 1986, my introduction to Reiki began a transformative chapter in my life. By 1988, under the guidance of Phyllis Lei Furumoto, I became a master in Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. This journey not only deepened my understanding of energy but also brought blessings in the form of health and family. Since my initiation, I’ve been an active member of The Reiki Alliance, contributing to the International Reiki Community through writings and participation in global gatherings.

Family & Relocations

After my master initiation, my life took a delightful turn when I married Lyle Hamer. Following the birth of our daughter, we chose the serene backdrop of Pender Island in 1990 for our home. For many years, I practiced near Medicine Beach, even playing a pivotal role in its conservation. Over the years, my practice has shifted between locations, and since 2016, I’ve returned to practicing from my home on a part-time basis.

Discovery of Constellation Work

In 2007, Lyle and I stumbled upon the transformative power of family constellation work. This discipline, synergizing with principles from Asian medicine, offers profound insights into inter-generational information and healing. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of learning from numerous facilitators, completing our facilitator training in 2012. Today, I continue to immerse myself in expanding my understanding of the ‘Constellation Field’.

Legacy & Future

Having witnessed the myriad facets of life—from births to departures—I’ve been a part of the healing journey of thousands. It’s this reservoir of experiences that I infuse into my teaching, facilitation, and treatments. As I transition my focus from individual treatments to group facilitation and teaching, I remain deeply grateful for every lesson, every interaction, and every blessing.
